If you own a Formuler Z10, Z10 Pro, or Z10 Pro Max — and you've been wondering whether the Z11 line is worth the upgrade — this guide is for you. The Z11 is two generations newer, sits at a similar price tier, and adds some genuinely useful improvements. But it's not a slam-dunk upgrade for everyone.
Here's what actually changed, what didn't, and whether you should pull the trigger.
Quick Verdict
The short answer: most Z10 owners should upgrade to a Z11 if they primarily stream over Wi-Fi. The Z11 Pro Max's Wi-Fi 6 alone is a meaningful improvement for wireless streaming.
If you're on wired Ethernet and your Z10 is working fine, the upgrade is much less urgent — most of the day-to-day experience is similar.
The real "must-upgrade" jump is from Z10 to Z12 Ultra, not Z11. We'll cover that at the end.

What Actually Changed
1. Processor: RTD1319 → RTD1319C
The Z11 uses the "C" revision of the same Realtek chip. It's a refresh, not a new generation. In benchmarks the gap is small — 5–10% better performance on the Z11. Real-world impact: minimal. If your Z10 already feels fast, the Z11 won't feel transformatively different.
2. GPU: G31 MP2 → Mali-G57 MC1
This is a more meaningful upgrade. The Mali-G57 is a generation newer and noticeably better at graphics-heavy tasks like menu animations, 4K HDR playback, and lighter games. Real-world impact: smoother UI animations, better video playback on demanding HDR content. Most users will notice it as "feels snappier."
3. Wi-Fi 5 → Wi-Fi 6 (Z11 Pro Max only)
This is the single biggest reason to upgrade. The Z11 Pro Max moves to Wi-Fi 6 (AX), which means faster real-world throughput, better stability in homes with many connected devices, more efficient signal use, and future-proofing as routers move to Wi-Fi 6 / 6E.
Real-world impact: Big, if you stream over Wi-Fi. Negligible if you're on Ethernet. Note: only the Z11 Pro Max has Wi-Fi 6 — the standard Z11 Pro is still Wi-Fi 5, same as the Z10.
4. Gigabit Ethernet on Z11 Pro
The standard Z10 and Z10 Pro are limited to 100 Mbps Ethernet, which is fine for most 4K streaming but bottlenecks on bigger downloads. The Z11 Pro upgrades to Gigabit Ethernet — same as the Z10 Pro Max already has.
5. Storage on Z11 Pro
The Z11 Pro has 16 GB storage vs the original Z10's 8 GB. Same as the Z10 Pro. Useful if you install lots of apps or record live TV.
6. Android 10 → Android 11
Not the biggest version jump, but Android 11 brings minor improvements: better permission handling, refined media controls, and slightly improved battery efficiency for connected accessories. Subtle, mostly under-the-hood.
What Didn't Change
The Z11 line does not add: Dolby Vision support (still only HDR10+ and HLG), HDMI 2.1 (still HDMI 2.0), Bluetooth 5.2 (still 5.0), or Wi-Fi 6E (only Wi-Fi 6 on the Pro Max).
If you specifically want Dolby Vision, Wi-Fi 6E, or the newest BT3 backlit voice remote, you need the Z12 Ultra, not the Z11.
Should You Upgrade?
You own a Z10 (base model): Yes if you stream over Wi-Fi, especially to the Z11 Pro Max for Wi-Fi 6. The base Z10's 8 GB storage is also tight in 2026.
You own a Z10 Pro: Maybe. Same processor family, same Wi-Fi 5 (unless you go to Z11 Pro Max). The biggest reasons would be Wi-Fi 6 and a fresh hardware unit.
You own a Z10 Pro Max: No, unless you specifically want Wi-Fi 6. The Z10 Pro Max already has 4 GB RAM, 32 GB storage, and Gigabit Ethernet — most of what makes the Z11 Pro Max attractive. The newer GPU and Android 11 are nice-to-haves, not must-haves.
You own a Z10 SE: Yes, if budget allows. The Z10 SE is the entry-level model with limited storage, single-band Wi-Fi, and USB 2.0. Almost any Z11 model is a meaningful step up.
You're on a really old Formuler (Z+NEO, Z8 Pro, Z-Alpha): Yes — but skip the Z11 and look at the Z12 Ultra directly. You're due for the bigger jump.
Z11 Pro vs Z11 Pro Max — Which One?
- Z11 Pro — 2 GB RAM, 16 GB storage, Wi-Fi 5, Gigabit Ethernet → great for wired users on a budget
- Z11 Pro Max — 4 GB RAM, 32 GB storage, Wi-Fi 6, Gigabit Ethernet → the better all-around buy
The Wi-Fi 6 alone justifies the Pro Max for most buyers. If you stream over Wi-Fi at all, get the Pro Max.
There are also BT1 Editions of both, which include the premium BT1 Bluetooth voice remote: Z11 Pro BT1 Edition and Z11 Pro Max BT1 Edition. Open Box versions are available at lower prices with full warranty: Z11 Pro Open Box and Z11 Pro Max Open Box.
What About the Z12 Ultra?
If you're spending money on a meaningful upgrade, you should at least consider going one step further to the Formuler Z12 Ultra. Here's what it adds over the Z11 Pro Max: Dolby Vision support, Dolby Atmos decoding, Wi-Fi 6E (vs Wi-Fi 6), 128 GB storage (vs 32 GB), Android 12 (vs Android 11), Bluetooth 5.2 (vs 5.0), and the BT3 backlit voice remote.
The Z12 Ultra is the no-compromise pick. If you want a box that will be future-proof for 4–5 years, this is it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use my Z10 remote with the Z11? Yes — the IR1 remote is compatible with all Z10 and Z11 models.
Will my MYTVOnline 3 settings transfer? No — settings are stored locally on the box. You'll need to set up your portal again on the new box. It's quick: see our MYTVOnline 3 setup guide.
Can I use the same accessories? Yes — Wi-Fi antennas, IR extenders, power adapters, and air mouse keyboards are all cross-compatible. See the accessories collection.
Should I sell my Z10 or keep it? Many users keep their old Z10 as a second-room box. If you're not using it, open-box resellers and online marketplaces will take it.
Does the Z11 fix the Wi-Fi issues some Z10 users have? Yes — the Z11 Pro Max's Wi-Fi 6 is significantly more stable than the Z10's Wi-Fi 5, especially in busy networks.
Is there a Z11 Mini? No — the Z mini is its own line, smaller and more affordable than the Z11.
Bottom Line
The Z11 is a solid evolution over the Z10 — but it's not a must-upgrade for everyone. The Wi-Fi 6 on the Z11 Pro Max is the most meaningful improvement, followed by the newer GPU and Android 11.
If you stream over Wi-Fi, upgrade to the Z11 Pro Max.
If you want the best Formuler box money can buy, skip the Z11 and go straight to the Z12 Ultra.
If your Z10 Pro Max is working fine and you're on Ethernet, save your money for the Z12 generation.
All Formuler boxes ship free across Canada and the USA with no customs fees and full warranty support.
